The GLE is almost here! There is no official release date yet, but it is expected by the end of the summer. We will miss the M-Class, but are excited about the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Dynamic Select features. Dynamic Select has been in Mercedes-Benz automobiles for about five years now, but each model gets its own special variation to the software. For example the new GLC has different driving modes than the GLE. For the 2016 GLE, there will be six driving modes to choose from. Six!
Dynamic Select is a software that lives inside of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. It allows drivers to adjust how the car behaves. Switching the driving mode will change when and how fast the vehicle will shift. It will also adjust the way the car handles by tightening or loosening the suspension. This can adjust ride height by a few crucial millimeters. The modes can be switched at any time, even when the car is in motion.
The modes offered in the GLE are Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Off-Road+, and Individual. The comfort, sport, and individual modes are nothing new. Comfort will give the suspension a little bounce in its step, while sport will seek a harder stance and shift at higher RPMs. Individual is a customizable program in which you can pick and choose the functions you like best from each mode.
The new modes are Slippery and Off-Road+. They are unique to Dynamic Select and they are exciting because they show off the intent of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Dynamic Select features. Slippery driving mode will tighten the suspension and balance the drivetrain to give equal power to the front and back wheels. Off-Road+ will only come with an upgraded off-road package, but will make for an exciting ride because it will keep RPMs high and wheels spinning for best traction. Mercedes-Benz does not expect the majority of buyers to opt for the off-road package, but it is quite certain we will see some cool videos from those who do.
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Dynamic Select features are perfectly tuned for the GLE. It will be equipped for all different types of weather and terrains. The M-Class is being replaced by the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE and we couldn’t be happier about it.
