The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Drive2Friend Service Will Get You Where You Need to Go.

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Drive2Friend

Mercedes-Benz is making giving directions easy. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Drive2Friend feature is a service provided through the mbrace subscription that allows you to locate other people based on cell phone location. You have probably seen something like this in a James Bond movie or an episode of Star Trek. It may seem complicated but it is actually simple and extremely convenient.

Drive2Friend service gives Mercedes-Benz owners the convenience of locating their friends. All you need is your friend’s phone number. With permission from the cell phone owner, your Mercedes-Benz will determine the location of the phone and give you directions to find it. The purpose is to make giving directions easier, faster, and safer. This way, you don’t have to put someone on speaker phone to type in an address or, knock on wood, write an address down on paper before transferring it to your navigation system.

How does it work?

First, you type your friend’s phone number into your car, your mbrace app, or your desktop computer via a Send2Benz website. Your friend does not need a smart phone because it uses text messaging, and your friend does not need to be a Mercedes-Benz owner. Your friend will receive a text message that says you are requesting his or her location. Your friend now has three options; Y to accept, HELP to get more information, or STOP to deny. If your friend accepts, your Mercedes-Benz will give you directions straight to the location. We suggest communicating with your friend prior to requesting for a location to avoid an awkward situation.

Drive2Friend is available with the mbrace PLUS package and will be an option for the 2016 GLE and the 2016 GLC, both coming out later this year. If you would like to know more about the service or would like to test drive a vehicle, stop in at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale today!
