The SUV will come standard with an Apple Lightning cable, but an Android can also be plugged in via USB. If you don’t need to charge your phone, you can sync it using Bluetooth. This way, your phone never has to leave your pocket for it to interact with the Command Navigation System. Once synced or plugged in, the GLE will show information from your phone on the infotainment display such as song title, directions, and caller information. One of the most intriguing aspects of this sync technology is that phone functions can be controlled through the Command Navigation System when connected through Bluetooth, which is not something all cars can do.
The mbrace app is free to all iPhone and Android users. It is a useful gadget for a number of reasons. First, it gives you a virtual key fob. One less thing to carry around! From the mbrace app, you can also send a navigation destination to your car, no matter how close to your car you are. Once you get in the GLE, it will ask you if you want to go to that destination. The fun doesn’t stop there. If you aren’t sure where you parked, you can use the vehicle locator function, which uses GPS to guide you right to your car. It also has a Curfew Minder function that will alert you if the vehicle is operated after a certain time.
