Part of the job of the Mercedes-Benz DYNAMIC SELECT feature is to adjust suspension damping depending on how you want the car to handle. Because AMG variations are made for extreme performance, drivers may want to customize beyond DYNAMIC SELECT. To account for this, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 will feature AMG RIDE CONTROL.

AMG RIDE CONTROL is a function that allows AMG drivers to switch between three stages of adaptive sport suspension. While DYNAMIC SELECT controls shift times, throttle response, and exhaust flow, RIDE CONTROL adjusts damping and suspension stiffness. RIDE CONTROL is actually older than DYNAMIC SELECT, but they work together nicely, especially if you know what you’re doing.
By keeping the engine settings separate from the suspension settings, AMG drivers can fine tune the car to drive and handle more precisely than Mercedes-Benz vehicles with DYNAMIC SELECT only. This way, you can make the suspension really stiff while in Economy mode to get the best gas mileage around a track. You can also do the opposite if you want to go fast but don’t want to be uncomfortable. Each variation has trade-offs, which is why Mercedes-Benz is leaving it up to us to decide what the best combination is.
If you own a 2016 Mercedes-AMG C-Class or something similar, you may already have this technology in your car. To adjust it, play with the buttons in the center console to the left of the COMAND NAVIGATION pad. The picture on the button looks like a spring. While you’re at it, don’t be afraid to play with all of the buttons. If you have any questions about Mercedes-AMG RIDE CONTROL, leave a comment below!
