2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is Next-Generation Wagon

2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake

It is hard to argue against the Mercedes-Benz CLA. It has only been on the market a few years and is already reaching for competitors’ necks with the most powerful 4-cylinder engine in the world. For 2017, the CLA will be getting a new front end for sure, but what about more power? What about the 2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake? Like the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the CLA is offered as a shooting brake design, they just aren’t available to us yet.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake in United States

Unfortunately, us North Americans will have to go another year without a domestic CLA Shooting Brake. It is offered basically everywhere else, but Americans just aren’t ready for its greatness…or something. We expect Mercedes-Benz to send it over any year now before another automaker beats it to the punch.

2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake Specifications

Mercedes-Benz has not yet released any powertrain information to the public yet, but at the very least, the German auto manufacturer should be able to squeeze a few more ponies out of the 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline four-cylinder. Currently, the CLA45 sedan and shooting brake models come with the same engine that produces 375 horsepower. Almost as motivation for improvement, this is roughly the same power output as the 2016 Ford Focus RS that will be coming out in the spring.

2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Shooting Brake

The Mercedes-Benz CLA250 will only feature around 210 horsepower, but it will likely get up to 40 miles per gallon on the highway. The CLA250 uses a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder like the one on the CLA45, but it is not handcrafted by AMG. This just goes to show how much more quality can be achieved with a little extra time and care.

Release Date

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake will likely go on sale at the same time as the sedan sometime in October. As a reminder, it will not be available in North America yet. If you have any questions about this or any other Mercedes-Benz, contact us at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale.
