Mercedes-Benz has yet to comment on the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 or hint at any performance specifications. We know it’s coming. We don’t know when, but we do have a pretty good idea of what to expect, based on the previous model and the trends surrounding the current Mercedes-Benz lineup.
The 2016 E63 has a 5.5L biturbo V8 in it. Right now, you can still buy a brand new 2016 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon from the factory, but the engine that lives in these cars does not appear to fit the build of the 2017 model, so we look to the C-Class for guidance.
The C-Class is the closest sibling to the E-Class, and it just so happens to share an engine with the Mercedes-AMG GT since what we like to call, the Mercedes-Benz mix-up. Based on what we’ve heard from rogue spies, the E-Class will also be properly equipped this year with a wet-sump biturbo 4.0 liter.
You didn’t think Mercedes-Benz would forget about the elongated wagon, did you? We can expect the same 4.0L to be dropped into the grocery-getter by the end of 2017.
We can’t say for certain when the E63 S will be released. It looks like it’s ready to go on the Nurburgring videos, but it is still fairly heavily covered in camouflage, so we don’t want to assume it is farther along than it is. Still, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it at the Miami Auto Show in September. If you have any questions about the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 S debut, leave a comment below!
