When Mercedes-Benz released the GLC Coupe, we were like, “where’s the cream filling?”. We were expecting a release similar to the GLE Coupe, which is still only available in AMG® form. We knew the GLC43 was coming, but now we know when. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe will be released on September 28th at the Paris Motor Show. Here is what we have to look forward to:
Under the hood, you will find a familiar 3.0L AMG®-enhanced V6 biturbo engine. You may recognize it from the C450 AMG® Sedan or the AMG® GLE43 Coupe. It even pops up without the AMG® badge in the E-Class and the CLS, but with less power. This one, in particular will produce 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.
Remember the 9-speed automatic that was released with the GLC SUV last year? Well it’s back with a few AMG® tricks we haven’t seen before, including “Manual” transmission mode!
One of the biggest questions about the new Mercedes-Benz crossover coupes is in regards to the off-road capabilities. Is it made for the track or the trail? The answer is track, mostly, but it does have a fording depth of 11.8 inches and an approach angle of 21.2 degrees, compared to the 28-degree angle in the GLC SUV.
Our first look at the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe will be on Wednesday, September 28th at the Paris Motor Show, but it will not yet be for sale at that time. In America, we will have to wait until the first quarter of 2017. This means it could be as much as 6 months away.
