The G-Class may be one of the most popular SUVs amongst people with money and fame. It is a status symbol that has remained unchanged for the last 40 years simply because the look works. The reason drivers like this car is not for its functionality as an SUV. Sure it comes with a lot of horsepower and an optional off-road package, but even still, it is not the best vehicle for the trail, or the road for that matter. It is a luxury SUV, but that might change with the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G350d Professional United States release date.

The G-Class is better known for its high-end leather and enormous price tag than for its ability to navigate off-road terrain. It does have three independent locking differentials to get itself out of the mud in sticky situations but a car that was made for this would have automatic differentials that don’t require the driver to know how to use them.
When Mercedes-Benz says professional in this case, it doesn’t mean a professional rapper or actor. It is referring to professionals that get their hands dirty outside on the farm or at the construction site. It refers to people who work 80 hours a week at the job site because they take pride in their work. The G350d Professional is a special edition G-Class that will be released sometime later this year in Europe.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet released any information regarding an American release date. If if does make its way to U.S. soil, it probably won’t be for a few years and will be dependent on the SUVs popularity across the pond. This is a little disappointing for us, but considering it will still be priced in the 6-figure range, we probably wouldn’t want to use it at work anyway.
