The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Cass official release date is taking place in spring of 2016. So far, this is all the information Mercedes-Benz has released about the release of the iconic roadster. Last year, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class came out in July, but that was under different circumstances. The 2017 SL-Class looks very similar to the 2016 model, but it has been refreshed both visually and mechanically to provide more customer satisfaction all around.

For 2017, the curves on the SL-Class have all been smoothed out for a more aerodynamic design. The flowing lines of the new SL-Class actually make it look bigger, but it rests on the same chassis as the 2016 model. The rear has remained mostly unchanged.

The SL450 is a new model for the SL-Class. Previously known as the SL400, the SL450 uses the same engine with a 33-horsepower jump from last year. This puts the SL450 at 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Also new for the 2017 SL450 is the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. This is the same transmission that was released for the first time in the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC. This transmission is proving to be one of the best in the industry right now for comfort and efficiency.

As in previous years, the SL-Class lineup will include two AMG variants. The SL63 and the SL65 will both feature hand-crafted engines. In the SL63, a 5.5L biturbo V8 will make 577 horsepower. In the SL65, 621 horsepower is achieved with a 6.0L V12. Both models will use AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed transmissions. The SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC is reserved for the SL65, but even the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed in the SL63 can shift faster than you can blink.
