The GLC, GLE, and GLS were all introduced at the same time last year, but only the GLC and the GLE went into production. That means for 2017, really the only difference is the substitution of the GL-Class for the GLS. Actually, the name is where the difference ends when it comes to performance. Both the GL-Class and the GLS share the same maximum towing capacity.

The Mercedes-Benz with the highest towing capacity in the United States and anywhere else is the GLS with a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. It is the only vehicle in the fleet to offer this amount of utility by 300 pounds and also offers the most interior capacity.
Given its size relative to the rest of the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup, you might think the GLS is the heaviest Mercedes-Benz available. Actually, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class weighs the most out of any Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle.
