When information “leaks” in the automotive industry, it doesn’t actually leak. For example, it is no coincidence that the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster is seen being tested only a few days after a Mercedes-Benz infographic leaked onto the internet. Regardless, we are excited to see the camouflage pictures because it means it was at least more than a rumor. Take a look at the video below to share in the excitement!

Sometimes Mercedes-Benz can be confusing when it comes to naming cars. By itself, the GT is a coupe. Two doors, front engine. Makes sense. With the top off, it is a roadster. See the difference? A roadster is a two-seat sports car with a retractable roof. The introduction of this roadster, however, will be significant because it will be the fastest roadster to ever come out of the Mercedes-Benz garage.
The GT C roadster is more exciting than competing roadsters because of the engine that it harbors underneath the hood. It is a 4.0L Biturbo V8 with 500 horsepower, but the fun doesn’t stop there. The reason it is able to create so much power with only 4.0 liters has to with more than just the turbos. It is known as a “hot inside v”. This means the turbochargers are placed in between the exhaust manifolds and the engine itself. Traditionally, turbochargers are placed on the other side of the exhaust manifold due to high temperature complications. To compensate for this problem, the GT uses a dry-sump oil configuration. This means the GT has a secondary oil reservoir that is not directly touching the engine. When the oil gets too hot, it is transferred here to cool down.
