Recently, a brave automotive blog leaked some information that Mercedes-Benz had not yet shared with the public. The information pertains to basically all Mercedes-Benz plans through the end of next year. Assuming it’s true, everything makes sense except for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift. Did Mercedes-Benz forget that it just did that?
Okay, so technically it wasn’t a facelift. It was a model refresh, but still. To aid the introduction of the S-Class Cabriolet after 40 years of hiatus, Mercedes-Benz updated the look of the S-Class just this year. It features large air intakes and the black diamond radiator grille that is the new face of Mercedes-Benz. Also new are the two curved lines flowing down the hood of the 2017 S-Class Cabriolet. Is this the facelift that the leak refers to, or should we expect something more?
Because of all the commotion regarding name changes, new vehicles, and even new body styles from Mercedes-Benz, we don’t think this is a mistake. A facelift for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class would give drivers a new reason to upgrade and remind pedestrians of what they are missing.
Because the grilles on all current Mercedes-Benz models are fairly new, we don’t expect a new grille. Instead, we will probably get a little taste of a little trick Mercedes-Benz likes to call a facelift. It consists of new headlights and a slightly different front bumper. We salute Mercedes-Benz for changing it up, but most of us can’t even tell the difference. Still, only time will tell so we will wait for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class to be released this time next year. What do you think about the facelifts? Are they worth it?
