With a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, sometimes its hard to tell you’re not in the future. The new Evasive Steering Assist from Mercedes-Benz is able to avoid a potential collision taking place in front of the vehicle. In the event of a potential collision, most drivers attention and force goes towards braking, rather than maneuvering the steering wheel. With Evasive Steering Assist, the extra force that is put on the brake pedal by a driver trying to avoid an accident is detected by the driving system. The system is able to detect that further braking is no longer needed, so the extra torque and strength is given to the steering wheel.
The Evasive Steering Assist system detects pedestrians by shape and size, and even reads the movement of their legs by a radar and camera, giving the system the ability to decipher whether or not the shape is an object to avoid.
The luxurious S-Class from Mercedes-Benz features incredible performance thanks to the power of the available 436-hp, 6.0-liter V12 engine. The 2017 S-Class features a host of impressive advanced safety technology, including the aforementioned Evasive Steering Assist, as well as Active Brake Assist and more. Inside, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers even more luxury, including ‘hot stone’ massage seats, interior mood lighting, custom upholstered seating and more.
