The AMG S 63 Sedan keeps its name, but still receives an upgrade under the hood. The AMG S 63 Sedan replaces its old twin-turbo 5.5L V8 for a higher-output version of the twin-turbo 4.0L V8. The new engine increases horsepower from 577 to 603, and delivers the same torque output of 664 lb-ft. The seven-speed automatic transmission is also replaced with a new nine-speed unit.
Finally, the top-of-the-line S-Class model that has a designation of its own, the Mercedes-Maybach, also receives a new model name and engine upgrade. The Mercedes-Maybach S 560 Sedan is now equipped with the same 4.0L V8 engine as the non-Maybach S 560.
