Whether you are an autonomous vehicle fan or a Terminator 2 Skeptic, driver-assisted technologies and driverless vehicles are becoming more prevalent in the automotive industry every day. What

DISTRONIC PLUS is a driver-assistance feature. Mechanically, it automatically adjusts the speed of the vehicle based on the flow of traffic and the preferences of the driver.

How

Mostly, it works the same way traditional cruise control works, except with one additional step. First, you need to turn on the cruise control by use of the bottom, left-hand steering wheel stock. It will be below the turn signal switch and the steering-wheel adjustment lever. To turn in on, first you have to be traveling at a speed above 20 miles per hour, and then you can push the cruise control stock up or down. Now cruise control is on and you can accelerate or decelerate 1 mile per hour at a time by pressing up or down on the stock again.

Adjust

Once DISTRONIC is activated, you can adjust how much room you want in between you and the car in front of you from 30 to 200 feet. To do this, simply rotate the end of the stock to find the setting you want. The distance chosen will show up in your instrument cluster as you spin through the options.
