2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV Receives Award From IIHS

When the GLC was introduced in 2015, it was built to be bigger, but lighter than the model it was replacing, the GLK.

To be named a Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must receive at least a “Good” score in the following crashworthiness tests: small and moderate overlap frontal areas, side and roof strength, and head restraints and seat safety. A vehicle must also earn an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for the front crash prevention system and receive a grade no less than “Acceptable” in headlight testing.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV received “Good” ratings in the five crashworthiness tests and received a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention. With the GLC SUV’s standard COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, the GLC SUV was able to avoid collision testing at 12 and 25 mph. The optional static and dynamic LED headlights also received praise from the IIHS.

In addition to the GLC, the Mercedes-Benz also features two other models that have been awarded the Top Safety Pick+ designation: the 2017 E-Class Sedan and the 2017 GLE SUV.
