Like other manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz has its own subscription software that allows vehicle owners to connect their cars to the internet. Mercedes-Benz calls its software mbrace. The most up-to-date version will be offered in the GLC and GLE SUVs when they become available later this year. Mercedes-Benz mbrace starting package features a six-month trial for free with the purchase of any new Mercedes-Benz and a three-month trial is given for pre-owned vehicle purchases. There is a starting package, which can be upgraded to include either the mbrace PLUS, Mercedes-Benz Apps, or both.
2016 GLE Truck of the Year Contender
The Mercedes-Benz mbrace starting package costs $280 per year. It features safety, security, convenience, and remote access services that have never been seen before in an automobile.
With the yearly subscription, Mercedes-Benz customers receive such services as Automatic Collision Notification and SOS/Emergency Call. With these services, your Mercedes-Benz will automatically notify the mbrace Emergency Response Center in the event of an accident and will report your location. It will also provide a direct connection with the Emergency Response Center with the push of one button in case you or someone you see needs emergency assistance. Other safety and security Mercedes-Benz mbrace starting package features include Roadside Assistance Connection, Safe Ride, and Valet Protect, amongst others.
Have you ever seen those commercials where people are able to unlock the car remotely from an airport or another country? Well this is what they were talking about! The starting package includes Remote Door Lock/Unlock. This can be done from a smartphone, or a website, and can even be done by making a good old fashioned phone call to the mbrace Response Center. This same software can even activate your horn and lights for a period of five seconds if you need to find your car in a huge parking lot or draw attention to it in an emergency.
These are just a few of the functions that come with the standard package mbrace subscription. Stay tuned for a look at the PLUS and Mercedes-Benz Apps upgrades. If you would like to see this technology first-hand, stop in at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale to test drive an E-Class.
