The 2022 GLS-Class has been stripped from most of the V-8 engines options that were previously available. Hence, the GLS450 configuration is the only one available for the 2022 model year. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 is powered by a mild hybrid system that constitutes a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine combined with an integrated Starter-Generator electric motor. The gasoline-powered engine puts out 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
The Integrated Starter-Generator electric motor, on the other hand, supplies up to 21 horsepower which allows gas-free coasting and can recapture energy during deceleration. The powertrain is mated to a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission while the power is sent to all four wheels through the 4MATIC fully variable all-wheel-drive drivetrain.
