PRESAFE® uses an array of sensors to monitor critical driving situations, such as sudden braking or loss of control. The system activates specific protective measures to minimize potential injuries if it detects an imminent collision. These measures function independently and may include:

Tightening Seat Belts: The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts are tightened to secure occupants in an optimal seating position.

Closing Side Windows and Sunroof: If the system detects a possible rollover or side impact, it automatically closes the side windows and sliding sunroof (if equipped).

Adjusting the Passenger Seat: In vehicles with memory functions, the front passenger seat may move to a more favorable position for occupant safety.

PRE-SAFE® Sound: The multimedia system emits a brief noise signal to stimulate the ear's natural protective mechanism, helping reduce hearing damage from loud crash sounds.

If an accident does not occur, all pre-emptive measures taken by PRESAFE® are reversed, ensuring convenience without compromising safety.

What Is PRESAFE® Plus?

PRESAFE® PLUS extends protection to situations where a rear-end collision appears imminent. Using additional sensors, this system can:

Tighten Seat Belts: Further securing occupants for potential rear impacts.

Increase Brake Pressure: Brake pressure is automatically applied to minimize forward motion upon impact when the vehicle is stationary. The brakes release when the car pulls away.

Are There Any Limitations to PRESAFE®?

PRESAFE® and PRESAFE® PLUS are designed to enhance safety but cannot prevent all accidents. The system will not activate in the following scenarios:

  • Backing up
  • Driving at normal speeds (for PRESAFE® PLUS braking)
  • Entering or exiting parking spaces while using Active Parking Assist
