The Mercedes-Benz Roadster is a tradition that stretches back more than 50 years and forward to infinity. Their stylish bodies will make you smile and their aggressive engines will the that smile to the back of your seat. Loved by all, the Mercedes-Benz Roadster comes in two variations. When it comes to the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC vs 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, which one is a better value for your investment?
The SLC and the SL-Class look very similar, but the main difference is that the SLC is smaller, and is not available as a Mercedes-Benz AMG® 63 or 65 model, which is where the SL-Class comes out of the woodwork to be sworn in as king of the hill. The 2017 SL-Class can be found with 621 horsepower, accompanied by a 0 – 60 time of 3.9 seconds. The SLC, on the other hand, has a maximum power rating of 362 horsepower, launching the Mercedes-Benz AMG® SLC 43 from 0 – 60 in 4.6 seconds.
Both the Mercedes-Benz AMG® SLC 43 and the Mercedes-Benz SL 450 are new models for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz lineup. As you can see, they both support the same engine. Of course, the 3.0L in the SLC will be hand-crafted by an AMG engineer, giving it a slight advantage for reliability and life of the engine, but they produce the same amount of power. Both variations feature a 9-speed automatic transmission and both stand roughly 51 inches off the ground. The two main differences between these two roadsters is the length, and the features. The SL-Class is about a foot and a half longer than the SLC, providing more room and more stability, but not necessarily more performance. The SLC 43 comes standard with every Mercedes-Benz feature available, whereas the SL 400 has a long list of options. That being said, this comparison begins to lean towards the SLC. For less money, you get more performance, more efficiency, and more features. Of course, if price is no option, the Mercedes-benz AMG® SL 65 is the obvious choice.
