With the introduction of the EQB, Mercedes-Benz has continued to pave the way for a future powered entirely by electricity. This upcoming compact SUV will be all-electric and have five seats with the possibility of two more in the third row. Mercedes-EQ has also shown the electric executive sedan EQE and the luxury sedan EQS, making the EQB the second totally electric compact car after the EQA. Mercedes hasn't yet released U.S. specifications, making it difficult to forecast how much power the EQB will produce. The EQB will be offered in a variety of variants around the world. Join us at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ, as we elaborate on what’s new in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB SUV.
The EQB launches with just two trims, the EQB 300 4Matic and the 350 4Matic, in an attempt to keep things simple. The standard 300 generates 288 lb.-ft of torque and 225 horsepower. Both vehicles have a 70.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. However, software restricts the capacity to 66.5 kWh in the United States, where AWD is standard. Since it never actually fully charges, this buffer zone improves longevity. Mercedes-Benz also says it will only purchase components from ethical sources and produces its battery packs in a carbon-neutral plant. The WTLP range rating for the EQB is 263 miles on a single charge. The less optimistic EPA rating system will probably be 10% lower because they consider a wider variety of driving. The stats are acceptable given that this is a combustion engine vehicle that has been converted to run entirely on electricity, especially given the boxy design.
